Hey I was reading an old Farm Show magazine.
found a topic relating on how to free up a tractor for unloading forage wagons.

they had a small gasoline engine running a hydraulic pump with a supply tank mounted in the back of a pickup, with quick connectors.

Sounds like a plan !! some may have the parts needed to build one.

Those hydrolic pump assemblies were made and sold by the makers of unloading augers for hopper wagons if you wanted to take the seed or fertilizer wagon to the field with a truck instead of tractor.

Another guy mounted a JD tractor, less wheels, in his tk bed, pulled the wagons with teh truck, unloaded using the tractor pto. Used something like a 40.

I made one with quick disconnects to use on a wood splitter and conveyor. I used a unit out of an old 1 ton dump truck. It's self contained with a tank-pump and valve built in. Works good.

Ooooo, and I have all that stuff laying around too.

How did you plumb the valves on the truck unit? Mine is set up for power lift/gravity return so the return side of the manifold is only open when you push the lever against a spring (pull to lift, push to drop) so an open-center valve wouldn't have any way to return the oil.

I'm guessing you just plumbed a return line into the self-contained pump/reservoir unit?
