seized front axle

My son has an international 404 with an adjustable front axle and cannot get the axle to move. He would like to narrow up the front axle but it must be rusted and won't budge. He would prefer not to heat it and ruin the paint.....any other suggestions on getting it to move??

If you can get a port-a-power, try that. I've seen them used for that in the past, with good results.

I once used a HYD winch on my utility trailer. to pull a PTO shaft apart.

I've never been able to get an "adjustable" wide front to move yet. I've pretty much given up on trying.
