just had a call from a man who has a john deere A for sale.. he says everything works, new back tires. 1 new front. he did not say and i forgot to ask the yr. made.. it does not have 3ph.. what model years did not have 3ph. has electronic ignition, runs good.. asking 1800.00. any comments. thanks
 
That sounds like a fair price to me. new back tires are 800 these days alone. did he say how the tin was.
 
None had 3 pt.

Year is important--to me anyway. Is it unstyled, early styled or late styled? Does it have a high-low transmission or a six speed? I couldn"t venture a guess as to price without knowing those things and I"d sure want to see it.

What would you use it for?

3pt. hitch kits are available from Saginaw and they are good ones.
 
thanks to everyone for replies..the metal is good, new grill etc. no rollamatic.. i will not farm with it, just use for odd jobs.. mainly just to have old tractor to play around with. but i would like 3ph. i will be contacting him, i'll check about the transmission. have a nice day
 
New grill says it would be 1939 or newer and a styled tractor. No rollamatic says it probably is 1946 or older but a few were made without rollamatic untill end of production. So to fit in those years could be a 4 speed or 6 speed dual lever transmission, Possibly without any hydrolics at all or if hydrolics just the power lift that is either up or down and not good for a 3 point hitch. May or may not have a starter, if so probably 6 volt.
 
thanks for the good info. i will call this week to find out more about it..he has a parts tractor that has 3ph.. let me ask one other question.. it has no 3ph. but does it have the rockshaft to raise and lower implements. have a good day
