gear noise on farmall H??

Was raking hay last night and seems like i'm getting some whinning noise coming from the gears. Stops when clutch is put in. normally i'm running either the haybine or hay baler with the pto running so eveything is louder the and cant here the gear noise. just wondering if something is starting to go or its me hearing things. Had the tractor a couple of years and just do 1st and 2nd cuttings of hay with it and wonder if all the pto time is hurting it, (gears in trans or bearings?)

They all make a bit of gear noise. With the PTO working, the sound increases because of it's added reduction.

I wouldn't worry about it; run 'er. :>)

When's the last time you checked the rearend oil?
