Can someone tell me if the 1010 gas motor was used on another piece of equipment? like maybe a combine or hay baler....who built the motor etc etc....I need affordable engine parts

Dennis from what I have seen affordable and 1010 don't mix or belong in the same sentence together. I have one and most things I buy for it cost a little more than most but mine don't need any major work on the engine yet

I don't have engine parts but I have a 1010
that has a broken final drive. Heavy cast iron
wide front, most sheet metal. etc. All for sale.

There were highly negative comments posted about the 1010 in one of these forums recently, to the effect of 1010 parts being hard to find (and expensive?), while used parts were generally widely available because so many had been junked...
I have no personal knowledge or experience on this point...

Thanks guys, but I like to save the old deere"s and I need an engine or atleast a head for my 1010 crawler, don"t know how the previous owner allowed it to freeze up during a cold snap, but it pushed a hole in the water jacket, if I can"t get it fixed at a reasonable price I"ll make it yard art out of it

I don't follow JD, so this may be more confusing than helpful...
Most of my parts catalogs don't ID JD engines; however:
97 Fel-Pro shows 1010 with 4cyl 115G engine (no b/s shown), which that catalog also shows in 40 Combine, as Bob G said, and in 115 Power Unit and in the "600 and 700", which other catalogs ID as Power Units.
86 Fed-Mog lists all JD engines as Industrials; under 4cyl's lists EA115G, HA115G, HB115G, and NA115G, all with bearing change at ser #15082/83.
There's also a HB115GH with no bearing change listed. The 1010 gas tractor (no eng ID) shows a 4cyl with a bearing change at #31000/101. (No "1010" engine listed under engines).
94 Clevite lists "115 series" with the bearing change at 15082/83, and separately lists "1010 series", with bearing change at 31000/101, all engines shown as 31/2x3. The 115/1010 series early share the same bearings, and 115/1010 series late share another set. Difference apparently in mains: rods/cams same, but Clevite lists no mains for "late" engines (??)!!
Looks like you need a sure 'nuff JD expert....

The 40 combine used the same 115 engine but the 45 combine with the 145 or the 165 engine fits right in. The only difference in them is the block is bored bigger to fit a bigger sleeve on the deck plate and pistons in. Will give you more power and no one could tell the difference if it was not for the tag on the engine.
