I'm looking at maybe buying this truck, but it has a rear engine oil seal that leaks,it has a 350 auto in it ,is this an expensive fix? any help thanks.

2 or 4wd? Either way the tranny has to come out as it has a one-piece seal.

Not a bad job for a do it yourselfer, but you'll need another guy and strong backs.Get the vehicle as high as you can and use good jack stands. If 4wd,get a new transfer case adapter gasket from your GM dealer first.Yes,T-case has to come off.

yes the trans has to come out. are you sure it is the rear main? I have done alot of oil pan gaskets for leaks at rear of engine. also if it has oil filter adaptor the o-ring gets brittle with time.

If you know what you are do"n the transfer case dose not have to come off

I would 4 sure know that the leak was around the rear seal 4 I spent the time chasing a rear seal

I spec the first thing I would check is the operation of the PCV system and crank case blow by,,,, if it has excessive blow by then replacing rear seal mite just b a waist of time.

Yes the oil cooler lines and the adapter o-ring leak,,, just happen to own a 94 with a well used 350,,, gonna run"er till she blows,,, just like I stole it long as I can afford to feel it,,, she sure likes GAS

To answer yer question yes it can B expensive,,, if it has excessive blow by then the engine is well worn
