always on the lookout here at the shop for possible car stuff that will work on old tractors. got this 08 hyundai sonata here popped in the front end and have been looking at the power steering pump on this rascal. this one looks like it would work to be a substitute for the no longer available char-lynn belt driven pump. its about the size of a league baseball and would use a small remote resevoir tank. pressure line is a banjo fitting on top. gonna have to get one and do some monkeying around. heres a couple pics of the pump.

I have one of those little devils on my JD 440. I like the looks of a chevy truck pump. Not metric, at least the old ones, and the pulley looks to be about right. Going to try it out soon as I can't find parts either. Someone, somewhere has parts I'll bet. IH told me I could not get brake parts for my 1700 Loadstarr, but I found them through the Binder forum in Nebraska. New adjusters, made in South America, looked & worked great !

The Char Lynn (Eaton) pumps were used on a lot of cars (Ford and Chrysler) as well as Ford tractors in the 50's and 60's. Rebuilt units are available. I've seen used ones on ebay also.
