Sunday night after the grandkids went home, my left side was sore. Took off my shirt and had a rash starting. It was worse Monday AM, so after work I went to the DR. I have shingles. They put me on medicine and said it was good that I came right in, most people wait too long and the medicine doesn't help. Trying my darnedest not to scratch, hard to sleep when it hurts to lay down and exposed my grandkids to chicken pox. Ain't life grand!!

I would rather put them on the roof and I hate that.
Hope you get better soon.

Excellent reminder for all of us that have had chicken pox, never had shingles YET, but have not had the preventative shot----TO GET ONE POST HASTE!

I hope that you session with them is of short duration and that it will only be a mild case.

Wife has had them for about 8 weeks. Just starting to feel good. Has been able to make it through the day now for about a week. She has to go back to school Friday. Don't know yet if she can handle it. May have to start on her sick days. She has almost a year and a half to use if need be. Know more in a week or so.

She has had lots of pain and it has been rough on her. Ruined her summer vacation. Has really put a load on me in addition to my 12-14 hour days.

Plenty of time to get better for soybean harvest(LOL)!

Why can't that dang stuff wait and come in the dead of winter???

Hope it passes quickly!

I know what you're talking about. I've had shingles, too. As you said they are a strain of the chicken pox (varicella).

Most folks have it in their bloodstream but the body's immune system keeps it in check. It generally breaks out when you start getting a few years on you and your immune system isn't as strong.

It is very painful. It felt like I had been burned, but unlike a burn, the pain doesn't ease up for days.

I had the school medical staff look at it and it was such a light case, I didn't see a doctor.

I hope I don't ever get them again.

Going to the doc was the best thing to do. I had shingles a few years ago and wouldn"t wish them on anybody. They were without a doubt the most painful thing I have ever experienced. Just touching my side felt like a ball pein hammer. Shingles appear when you are tired, stressed, run down, or all of the above. Get lots of rest and it should be over with soon. If you try to do too much it will only prolong the suffering. Do as little as possible and rest as much as possible. Hope it isn"t too bad. Mike
