Bad new here.

My wife just got a call from her surgeon he said the test on her breast was malignant. She goes in for operation on the 24th.
Looks like I will be doing a lot of cooking for awhile. BUMMER I like to cook but only on special occasions. Not 3 times a day 7 days a week. Thank God for KFC and Chinese restaurants.

I hope all goes well with her surgery. I got divorced last year and im really glad I knew how to cook cuz a man can only eat so much subway and mcnasty's before you really miss a home cooked meal.lol

I think that cooking should be the least of your worries, a cancerous tumor is real bad. Eating KFC and carry out is all bad.

I was a bachelor for 3 years. I didnt eat real good except when my wife (girlfriend at that time) went out on the weekends.

SWMBO is an 8-year breast cancer survivor; believe me, cooking was the least of my concerns when we were dealing with it. Hope everything works out okay. Doctors and surgeons are just like mechanics or carpenters or lawyers; there are good ones and mediocre ones.............

My thought go out to you and your wife. My wife and I went through this same experience back in 1993. I found the tiny lump about the size of a match head. They gave her several options one was breast removal. Her answer was "Take it I am done with it". Yup you will be doing a lot of cooking but the big thing is to love her and tell her you love her. My wife went thru chemo and radiation. She beat it and we celebrated our 58th niversery last December. Take her out for dinner every time you get a chance.

Treatment has come a long way in the last few years. Always keep a sense of humor and support her no matter what, my thoughts are with you and her. She will likely do fine. It's good for a man to do womans work for a while, helps us appreciate them that much more:>)

My prayers are being sent for both of you, like has been said there has been remarkable progress in treatment so keep up the faith!!

Walt, it may comfort you to know that some of the best doctors in the country are right here in the Willamette Valley. My wife spent several months in treatment at the McMinnville Cancer Center. They were fantastic there. And all of their doctors come from Salem! Of course it won"t be fun for you but the docs and nurses really do know how to care for cancer patients. I guess you could say they treat the whole person not just the disease.

Prayers to you and your wife

If that was my wife, the first thing I"d suggest is to have the results double checked with a new Doc and lab.

There"s been more than one mistake made with news like that.

My thoughts and prayers are with your wife and you, Walt. Breast cancer is very curable if caught early. Jim

Walt, sorry to hear about your wife. On a positive note, many women do well with treatment. And if you want to make cooking a little easier, just make up some large batches of soups, casseroles or something like stroganoff and freeze the in tupperware or something. That way you can cut down on your cooking some. Remember to eat healthy, you and your family will be under some stress. God Bless.

Sorry to hear that. Will say a good word for you and your family. Hope for the best. Good luck to her with the treatment and the eat'n.

Wife went thru the whole regime 8-9 years ago: lumpectomy, radiation, some chemo, then Tamoxifen (Sp?)...
Lost her hair, came back more lush and curly; so far, so good...
Cure/remission rates improve all the time...
Best wishes to you both.

It would seem that your biggest concern is being inconvienced to have to cook some food. How about her?? Tom
