I bought a 14 foot trailer from nephew that has a 2inch hitch on it. Pull behind truck and the hitch will not fit down on the ball.
Is there a company that makes repair kits for hitches? Found one on web seachoice that says fits most trailers.
NO idea of name on hitch on trailer. Trailer originaly belonged to another nephew and I knew it fit on 2 inch ball. Sanded off top and it show 2". Nephew that had it last said he pulled it to Virginia on 1 7/8 ball. Told him he was a fool.

There are several kinds of hitches; the latch may be adjustable; the latch may have turned upside down; what's actually wrong with it? I'd just buy and install another hitch if there's something seriously wrong.......warped, twisted, etc.

Mine acts up once in a while where the latch inside catches the ball as you drop the trailer down and keeps the ball from seating. I have to lift the trailer off and move the latch back where it belongs and try again. Haven't figured out why. Maybe more lube will help.. I would imagine a good trailer company could look at it and fix it for you. You can buy new ones to put one but if ites like Mine is welded onto the trailer which is a bit more work.

My trailer hitch was bad when I bought it. I looked at it to see what it would take to repair it. It wasn't worth the time as I could get a new hitch for $26 at that time. I just cut the old one off and welded on the new one. Its just not worth the risk to have the trailer pop off the ball. I sleep better at night also.

Some previous user may have "adjusted" the coupler with the 3/4" nut underneath to fit a 1-7/8, and now it won't go over a 2".

get on the ground and look up from below. See the nut? Adjust it. Maybe use a loose ball as It would be easier than checking fit up on the vehicle, what with the tounge weight and all.
