How far has any body went with a Flat ,Because they were Trying to get home or to the place they were going,Farm tractor=equipment, auto, truck related,or trying to get something home after buying at a sale or other !!!All so How Much Longer Did it Take to Get There !!!

After spending over 20 years in the tire business, I can tell you NOT VERY FAR. Most people dont even know they have one, until it is too late.

In 1966, I was with a guy who went probably 15 miles or so on a flat, didn't have much left as I recall when we got back to town.

Well over 100 miles in the middle of winter on mt semi trailer. Didn't have any say about it no spare, no jack ect. no tire shops with in 175 miles late at night, going from Mont. into Idaho. Had bud wheels witch was a good thing but not very much left of the tire.

Dragged a tandem axle feeder wagon home from an auction with one flat on the rear 40-45 miles. Only part of the bead of the tire left, completly ruined the rim, of course. Worst part was it had parts of 3 moldy round bales in it, and I was pulling it with a 2wd pickup. Could hardly make it up the hills. Never tried to get over 30 m.p.h.

Don't know if this counts or not because they were some kind of 10 ply airplane tires or something, but I hauled a greenchop wagon home from an auction about 40 miles with all 4 of them flat and broke down from the rim. I tried to fix them when I got home, but couldn't even get them off the rim. Ran them that way in the field and feedyard for a lot of years.

drove about 35 miles with a flat on the front tandum trailer,, finally stopped in Houston to fix it as it was starting to attack the cars around it... And I didnt want to hurt someone.

30+ Mi 1976 Suzuki RM 250 front tire was flat tube stem was cut off 8 ply full knobby took Interstate home 65mph got it home replaced tube ran same tire till I got rid of bike.
The faster I went the better the bike handled.

Ran from North of Jacksonville Fl. to Houston Tx. after I blew out a tire on a Sea container. Called the dispatch, and he said to pay for it out of my pocket. Figured if they didn't care, I didn't. Nobody ever bought a tire for my tractor, but me. Just two sidewalls left when I got there. Turned it in and never heard anything more on it.

Passed a guy on the 401 last week hauling a 53' trailer, outside tire on the driver side right behind his door was off-the rim flat and starting to come apart. We were in traffic so I waited for him to catch up and caught his attention. He already knew about it and didn't care a bit.

Saw him again about 20 miles later, still going, tire was looking worse yet.

My wife and I borrowed a friend's 25' tandem-axle horse trailer to move from IL to MO. We swapped out one tire (down to the belts) for the not-much-better spare only 50 miles out... we drove the rest of the way hell bent for leather, as we had no other spares. We pulled in 12 hours and 400 miles later, one tire reduced to shreds, and the other on that side bald as an egg and hot as molten glass. I envisioned angels holding up one side of the trailer and running alongside!

On another trip, we blew out a rear tire on the truck doing about 75mph. I put the spare on, which was a) nearly bald, b) the wrong load rating, and c) underinflated. We kept it to 25mph on the shoulder, making for the next exit, but it blew out before we made it a mile, and it was another mile and a half to the exit. We discovered the filling station and farm service station both closed and abandoned, so we called for a tow to the nearest town for repairs. The rim was still in good shape, so we had a used tire mounted to it.

My buddy and I towed a junk car about 15 miles with a flat. Actually the tire came off the rim during the first mile and it slid on the rim the rest of the way. Went past a village cop along the way and didnt get stopped either, I guess being stupid isnt illegal.

I had a failure of the sidwall on my Farmall M. The innertube started coming out of the sidewall like someone blowing a bubble with gum. after only a tenth of a mile, it popped. I went about a hundred feet and the tire started coming off of the rim. I only made it about another hundred feet or so before I HAD to stop or the tire would rip off the fender. I had to back up a few feet and go slow but I was finally at a spot where I could get off the narrow road I was on. I wasn't far from home, but it was not a great spot to have to change a tire.

I had one of those on a 12' Vibrashank. 'Flat' for close to a decade when I sold it. Probably still on there...

Most of the Sealand or other containers blew tires because of crappy recaps. When I'd go to put on a replacement, most companies wanted to know if the driver ran it flat.
My stock answer was "They're not sitting in traffic, but they are on the side of the road, so I guess so!" Any driver running on a flat tire could be fired, and that was my way of telling dispatch to kiss off.
