Gas Well Lease

Just wondering how many of you in PA and NY have signed a gas well lease. I signed 3 weeks ago with Whitmar from Colo. I think we have about 25,000 acres in our group right now. I don't expect to make much money but you never know. A lot of us in our area don't own the coal rights, but do own the gas and oil rights.

From all the published reports I have read, there is mega amounts of gas in PA, OH and NY.

Better get it while you can, before this administration bows to their hard-core enviornmentalist backers and bans ALL oil and natural gas exploration in this country.

NO OFFSHORE DRILLING, NO DRILLING IN ANWR, NO NEW NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS, NO NEW COAL FIRED POWER PLANTS, yep, change is great!

Whitmar approached us last year before the NY DEC put a moratorium on gas drilling in NY. How much did they offer per acre as a sign up bonus and what percent royalties? What does the lease look like? If you're in NE PA you are most likely over some of the best gas producing areas in the state. Susquehanna and Bradford Counties are hot spots.

Its even worse then that, one would think the extreme envioronmentalist left wing wacko O Bama types would like clean renewable ever plentiful wind power BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they were crying and whining and grindinG their teeth screaming NO NO NO because a bird may fly into the blades GO FIGURE

For them its NO to wind or clean coal or nuclear, they insist to impose their values on others even thoug liberals preach tolerance lol lol

Hi Rollie, I signed late last year for $2500 pr acre with 15% royalties, very good addendums, I held out but neighbors all around me had already signed so I finally did last November. I"m in the middle of Bradford County, it"s really booming around here, wells going up all over, they are in the process of doing seizmic testing on my land now, we have water trucks and drilling equipment all over the roads, not doing the roads much good either. Good luck, Tom

father and uncle singed gas/oil lease this year leased out around 200 acre's, way they worked it 14% neighbor gets 2% of that if they drill on us 5 year lease 2 house hook up free gas if they hit on us, 380,000 cuft for both house's a year of free gas, not much money an acre they got for the lease,

I didn't sign any leases during the big frenzy last year. Seems like everyone was writing leases. Mostly speculators. Here in Bradford county it's boiled down to mainly Fortuna energy and Chesapeke energy. I went down to the Troy Fair hoping to talk to them, but Chesapeke didn't have a rep there like I was told and Fortuna's rep was a cute but clueless blonde that spent the week telling everyone that 'the guy that knows about all that will be right back'. There is a lot of drilling going on locally and water trucks running constantly.
If I were 30 years younger I'd consider signing on as a roughneck. I read their job descriptions and it sounds like easier work for 5X the money I was making back in the day.

I am in the middle of a mess with a gas outfit here in PA and it sure seems that I have been hosed.

#1. Get a Lawyer to look at the lease before signing!

They dug the pits for the well on my property in January. In Febuary they pulled out of the area and quit drilling. The site set open till they reclaimed it in July. I am told that I am one of several in western pa that this outfit backed out on. The outfit feels that I am entitled to nothing.

Bingo! Bingo! Bingo!

We signed with Chesapeake last year; then NYS shut things down for one of those lib/environmental wacko "reviews."

I never ceased to be amazed at how much the lib whiners whine about NRG and overlook what"s right in the USA beneath their feet.

One of our neighbors signed a few years ago. He got $10/acre and
now can't sell his land without multi-year headaches. There's a
sucker born every minute, but you don't have to be one of them. I
second the idea of a lawyer.

I own land in NE Ohio that is under gas lease only because we found out they had slant drilled on to our property from a neighbors property. They promised All sorts of things and for a while we recieved a check every month. Now, this year they have reduced production because of some new gov regulations from the current admin and we get only one check every 6 moths for the same amount we used to get monthly. Natural gas is clean and plentiful yet we are not allowed to use it according to the great changer. Yeah, change is here. Since I am 78 I will no longer be eligible for life saving medical attention if this new health bill goes thru. 70-80 percent dont want change bbut it will be rammed up our ****** any ow. Henry

In this part of NY we have formed very well organized land coalitions that we will put out for bid when we feel the time is right. We've hired a law firm with expirence in oil and gas drilling. They have written a lease that protects us,the land owners. That little 2 page lease the landmen bring with them known as the "Producer 88" lease does nothing to protect the land owner.
