That is odd, I know that agency OGS D&C very well, and dept of corrections (DOCS), what in heck are they doing with sileage is an interesting question. I know Dannemora (Clinton Correctional Facility) used to farm on the premises, way back when, but have never heard of this at any of their facilities.

At first glance, it looked like one of the bunkers I was at recently, hauled a load of some left over/recycled feed out to one of the bosses of this large dairy operation north of here. Then again, a lot of them look just like that, well the lower bunker they have is huge, I've got photos of it, just dwarf's the tandem truck.

NYS has a corrections division, CORCRAFT, have to wonder if it is one of those programs or similar.
Never thought I'd see sileage up for auction, news to me !

you'd a thought they would have figured out what they were gonna do with it before they cut and stacked all that. gonna take a few loads in the truck to haul all that outa there!!!

WOW! NY dept of corrections has a farm??? I oughta move to NY and commit a crime....I could farm for free and get free room and board! Now I pay to farm and pay room and board(mortgage)...of course I dont have a cell mate named bubba either..

NYS has several dairy farm prison camps. I think though that they got rid of the cows for "budget purposes" I could be wrong. 900 tons is really not all that much. 50-60 acres worth on a decent crop year. I will be putting up around 11000 tons for my milk cows this year.

Will have to see what the deal is, must be some info on it, must be some sort of program, some of the facilities are on decent land that could be farmed, but one thing is for sure, you don't ever want to be in a place like Clinton, they used to farm to be self sufficient, way back, one rough place, just driving past the place is enough to keep most out for life.
