Any pest experts out there (pic) ?

Can anyone ID this thing ? It's about 2 inches long and was sunning itself on the barn today. I was thinking the worst.....maybe some new ag pest from China. I've never seen one like this before.

Maybe I'm just paranoid, but we're overwhelmed with Jap Beetles again this year here in eastern CT and we don't need anymore invaders.

Not an expert, but that's an Eyed Click Beetle. Description sounds fairly harmless, and they are native to most of the US

Thanks. I just read up on them after your replies. Apparently they can spent up to 10 years in the ground chewing on things before emerging as adults, when they finally become harmless.

Sort of like a retired politician......

I dunno, Paul. I didn't think it was possible, but that 34moT guy gets dumber by the day. If he'd read even a couple more sentences on the Google page.....

I didn't know that Wolf went to seminary either, though. Can you imagine Father Wolf?
