I know the feeling.. you know who is stealing, but no way to prove it. Things were going missing all the time on our road, but that stopped when the local crackhead went to prison at the first of the year. Bad thing is, he is due to get out at the end of the year.

Get a good dog that will stay around your place. Does not need to be a big one but one that is noisy. Thieves to not like a barking dog. We have four around our place. They take care of all kinds of varments. We can tell by the bark what they are after.

know how you feel, I have a rental house that I was repairing for the next rent dodgers, people from power company called told me that while they were cutting the wire from the pole to the empty house next to it they notice that there was drop cord running from my outside receptacle to there window, when I got there to kill the power to the outside I notice someone had kicked in my back door and was sleeping there and using everthing in my bathroom , including taking showers, plus they stoled my 3day old cordless impact driver, called cops said they couldnt do anything about it , MY daughter texted the boys that were know to be staying there , 1 off them admited to using my house named the others , showed it to the cops they said it couldnt be used in court , so GUESS what I had to eat the cost of repairs and loss of my tools,, were is JUSTICE for the honest man....

Deer trail cameras are great for catching them in the act or finding people where they shouldn't be . They have some as cheap as $45 ,,,higher end ones will have infared flash so not to spook them when pic is taken . I have a couple of the cheaper ones at cabin . Daytime use nobody knows it's there,,nighttime they see the flash . We were going through tons of toilet paper in ouir outhouse, not up there using it that much . Turns out a neighbor was over there nearly everday when we wern't there using it . Got pics of him going in and out . Put couple pics on inside of outhouse for him to see when he was using it ,,,think he got the hint ! lol

The liberals (New England) in your neighborhood would have gotten you for trying to shoot him with a 12 gauge.

I listen to police scanner along with my Fire
radio. Last night heard a dispatch for a
"Breaking & Entering" Complaintent advised
that her Husband was in the front yard sitting
on the thief. When the Officer went on scene
you could hear him laffing.
I hope the Husband was LARGE!

Better devise a plan that shows your life was being threatened if you shoot someone, or you end up in jail. Property protection is not considered a good reason for endangering someone's life. Really don't agree, but that is the current legal position, and the three "S's" are tough to apply when involving humans.

David SC- Right on the money right there, just had one move in about 2 weeks ago with a neighbor, last time he was here was when i found drill marks in my door, the deer camera is a good idea especially sence i get the employee discount at cabelas

"KRS 503.080 Protection of Property (Castle Doctrine)

(1) The use of physical force by a defendant upon another person is justifiable when the defendant believes that such force is immediately necessary to prevent:

(a) The commission of criminal trespass, robbery, burglary, or other felony involving the use of force, ...

(2) The use of deadly physical force by a defendant upon another person is justifiable under subsection (1) only when the defendant believes that the person against whom such force is used is:

(b) Committing or attempting to commit a burglary, robbery, or other felony involving the use of force, or under those circumstances permitted pursuant to KRS 503.055, of such dwelling; or

(c) Committing or attempting to commit arson of a dwelling or other building in his possession.

(3) A person does not have a duty to retreat if the person is in a place where he or she has a right to be."

James, in some places being at home minding your own buisness is all the plan you need to put a hole in some one who is trying to get in your house. If your state does not have a Castle Doctrine law you should call your state rep. and get them on it.

Agree if they are breaking into your house, just be sure to drag the dead body inside the door so there isn't any question. But his problems were with cars and that wouldn't work unless he was living in them or they were in an attached garage.
