OT tomatoes

Set some a couple weeks ago. The early ones will soon be gone as we have so much rain this summer, the fungal disease have about dried up the foliage to the top of the plant. Had several varieties planted, used fungicides but still disease have about wiped them out for this year. Will do better next year hopefully. Have had 6.6 inches so far with more to come in July in west Ky. Joe

Set out 36 "better boys" this year. Spent a lot of money on fungicide. They had every kind of wilt you can think of. I even tried the old home remedy of Baking soda and liquid detergent in a sprayer. That seemed to make it worse. I also had
an infestation of white flys. Sprayed them with liquid "7". That finished off the tomato plants.
To much rain here in North Alabama.
Already making plans to try something different next year. more newspaper mulch and pine straw.

Hi Pat,

If you want a longer growing season, with faster production of vegetables then use a greenhouse in both hot and cool climates. It'll shock you with the results.

With solar(free) heating, I would bet most cold areas could last all winter.

I don't do anything different than I do on a exposed ground garden.
