5.9 in my Dodge. Injectors a bit loud.
I was told to use 2 stroke oil in the tank and life is good.
What kind??
Regular or syn and why??
Thanks Hope the answer is on the way

I've used ATF in my diesel tractors for years, but the manual for my 1st generation Dodge/Cummins says to use NO diesel additive, so I haven't; about 250,000 with no problems.

No ash is the important characteristic to limit piston/ring deposits, so use a TCW3 rated oil regardless if regular or syn. The better grade 2-cycle oil is API-TC, but it is low ash and can leave deposits at lower diesel engine output. These deposits are just "burned" away and scavenged at the higher temperatures in performance, high-output 2-cycle engines. So if you always run the "bejesus" out of your engine, the higher grade API-TC oil will probably work, otherwise stick with a TCW3 rated oil.

I got my old 92 out for a ride today, only 112K miles.. Quite a shame that the paint fell after 5 years, though.. Still a good old truck

237000 miles on a 94 with no problems, no additives ever, when i was a kid i used every kind of snake oil mirricle in a can additive i could find to cure noisy lifters in a '69 olds, never worked, and i never bought another additive other than stabil for small engine storage in the last 37 years and having owned probably 25 different vehicles in that time, im a firm beliver in not using any kind of additive anywhere, if its broke, fix it, if not, drive it

Ray,, some people don't know the difference between an injector and a valve,
It's really interesting and funny all the stuff that comes up on this forum, and the questions they ask, it makes me wonder if they know the difference between up or down.

Can't beat 'em; mine's a '93 dually and my daily driver; still gets close to 20 mpg just puttering around. Dodge definitley didn't know how to paint a truck back then; a couple of years ago, my then 6 year old nephew asked me what color my truck was when it was new; thought my wife was never gonna quit laughing........

ATF wil burn. In summer I mix diesel and used atf or motor oid 50 50 and run it in all my engines. only problem is on the old ford 7.3 is they start a little hard.once running you cant tell difference.the cummins and deere engines love the stuff.
