d-17 hydraulics

This is my first d-17, and I will say I am much more familiar with the 1960s Deere hydro system than anything else. I have a Series I for odd jobs around my place and I was wondering what runs my only hydraulic hook up. Is it linked to the cylinder that raises and lowers the rear arms? Do they move independent? I am considering buying some hydraulic lift implements and would like to get familiar with the tractor before I go and buy something it can't run.

They are plumbed together, and work together. You can install a selector valve in the line going to the remote coupler, and hook the selector to a different remote, and use one at a time. You can also install a multiple valve for two way operation. AC operator manual and I&T AC-11 have details, pix, diagrams. Text explains how to use the transport valve as well. Best to have both books to fully understand the system.
