Pond Problem (OT)

I know this is off topic, but I thought someone might be able to tell me exactly what this green is floating on my pond. How do I get rid of it? Up close it looks like small little green beads. It just started this year and I am not sure where it comes from or how to get rid of it.

Thanks for any help, Bob

If it is duckweed, about the only thing that will eliminate it completely is Sonar RTU. I bought some from an online pond supply business, and it worked great.

Can you post me a closer picture? If it's oval in shape and somewhat flat, it's likely duckweed. If it's slimy little balls, probably planktonic algae. I prefer the use of a product called Greenclean pro, which is hydrogen peroxide, to control algaes. It is a better alternative to copper-based products. If it's duckweed, Reward (diquat) with a silicone based surfactant is a good choice.
The previous mentioned Sonar is good, but $$$. It must be maintained at a certain ppm, so if there is alot of flow into and out of the pond it may not work.

Could you tell me how to post a close up picture? I have been trying to figure out to make my photos larger and so far cannot do it. The actual size of the photo in my computer is quite large, but when I try to post it, it seems to be downsized in the process. Thanks, Bob

We get that green scum in our lake every year when we dont get much rain and it starts gettin hot.We like to use simazine it duznt hurt the aquatic life and is cheaper than most treatments.

Could also be toxic Blue-Green Algae which appears during hot weather. keep animals and humans away until you establish what it is.
