Baling Hay pics.

This is my buddy baling Hay, his dad was delivering wagons and I was moving them. Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Looks like both the rake and the baler did a good job cleaning the field.

What kind of hay?

What were you standing on for photos #1 and #3?

Great shots!

Thanks for sharing the photos with us.

It seems everyone has a different method of handling baled hay. It seems it vary's with the end usage. Is it being handled to get the highest RVF or is the interest in quanity the greatest concern? Nice pictures aren't Dad's handy?

Not familiar with bale throwers- do you adjust the throw "shorter" as the wagon fills up? Looks like if you have it "strong" enough to get bales to the back at first, it would just bounce them off the top and over the back after it gets about half full.

Yes, as the wagon fills up he adjusts it so that the thrower throws the bales a shorter distance. And he can move the thrower left and right. If he sets it to he highest number (I think its 6) on the thrower he can clear the whole wagon easily.

I wonder if anyone has ever been hit with one of those flying bales. Looks like it takes a good push to get them in the wagon. Stan

How many bales can you get on one wagon? They look like there 9x18?

Do you get more in by standing the front bales on end? (last pic)

My neighbor's father was hit by a bale that came out of a JD kicker. It carried him up into the wagon with the bale. Didn't kill him but that could happen. He was too sore to stand up for several days.

Wasn"t it kyhayman or someone from that area (KY)last year got hit in the knee with a bale and was out of commission for a while?

You can get around 160 if you stack the front and throw the rest, If we stacked the whole entire wagon i could get 206.

The bales are 14x18

I don't know of anyone here in Ohio growing bermuda because of winterkill, although I have heard they have varieties adapted for the northern US. Our main grasses here are timothy, orchardgrass, and fescue.
