Show, swap meet, or both?

I'm considering attending the Tri-state gas engine and tractor show in Portland, IN , 26-30 Aug 09. There is also a "Swap & Sell" on the same grounds in October.

My question is: does the show in late August have vendors, parts trailers, rusty iron, and junk, or is it mostly just a "show" with restored engines and tractors and nothing much to buy?

I've never been to this show before and am interested in seeing restored equipment as well as browsing rows of parts trailers and rusty iron - all in one trip.

Thanks for your input.

I haven't been to the swap meet, but I've been to the show about 5 times, and it's incredible. There is a sizeable area of "vendors, parts trailers, rusty iron, and junk" on one side of the grounds.
Every time I go, I'm amazed at the size of this show. Lots of tractors, a huge number of old small engines, and a big bunch of old oil-field engines. Several places for good food, lots of parking area, and some demonstrations going on.

This sounds exactly what I"m looking for. I"ve heard for years that this is the biggest and best show in the country and I"m finally going to drive the 900 miles one-way from south-central Oklahoma to go this year.

I had to ask about the parts and rusty iron because I went to the Mt. Pleasant, IA show for the first time last year and even though it was awesome, I was a little disappointed that the emphasis was totally on the "show" and nothing on the "sale". They had acres of beautiful restored tractors, but not a single "For Sale" sign on anything and no rusty iron section.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
