When did tractors first come out with a power take off. I am not refering to the belt drive but the rear power take off. balers and combines had there own motors on them from the hose drawn equipment days

If I remember right, International introduced the PTO shaft in the 20's.

I thought that combinds and balers had thier own motors not because the tractors did not have a PTO , but because the tractor did not have enough power to pull the equiment and power it to . Also they lacked live power PTO, which is kind of handy when baling to stop forword motion, and still power the baler.
