Well Guys... I made the mistake of NOT draining the gas out of the Carb on My '41 JD H and has set for couple of Mos. I always have drained but not this time!! the Float (I think) has "GAS Logged,"flooding the Cyl. w/Raw Gas, Question I have ... can I just drain the carb Bowl, let it set for few Days and "Dry OUT, As good as it Ran, I certainly hate to mess with that Carb!Your Thoughts,Thanks! Floats don't gas load especially if they're brass, unless the brass has a crack in it and it fills with gas. Happened on two of mine..both about 30 years old..don't know why they got a real thin crack but they did.
The foam floats will load with gas but it has to be quite old and then the only real solution is to replace. I suppose you can dry those out. You should be able to take off the bowl and remove the float without removing the carb.
What might have happened is the gas varnished up on the needle and it's open from the seat and then it needs cleaning.
