Hello, I need some help. I purchased a Ford tractor I believe to be a 9N, however I need help with the year. I found the serial number on the block it starts HH 66367 . Does this make sense to anyone? I thought the serial numbers started with the model first. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It may be a replacement engine or power unit from a pump, combine, etc., etc..

Check out John Smith's site for "help identify" to identify the TRACTOR.

(There are casting date codes on the bottom of the hydraulic pump, axle "trumpets" and other castings that will help narrow date the build date. The parts probably were cast between a few weeks and up to a year before they were machined and assembled into a finished tractor.)

That number sounds more like a casting code then the serial number. If in fact it is a 9N or 2N the serial number will be on the left side of the engine just below the head about center of the block. There is a flat spot there where the number will be stamped. If it is a 9/2N that number will start with 9N.

Mr. Old this is exactly where i looked. I had to remove the bracket the held the oil filter. to read the whole number. Maybe its not the original.

Thank you

You might be right and that engine is out of something else or you may have read them wrong. Those numbers where hand stamped when new so they can be very hard to read after 50 plus years of grease/oil and dirt.
