I was given a 1010 with a gas engine that needs rebuilding/replaceing. It is warn to about 60 thou. oversize so it can't be bored out. I was reading that the engine from a 45 combine is similar, that would be the HC 145 G or the HC 165 G. I think the gas engine in my tractor is a 115 ? Has anyone made this SMALL adjustment before? Will it even work? I would love to hear about it. Thanks Nate

You might want to check but I was told{or seen pictures} that the 1010 had sleeves. All 4 sleeves in a single unit.

Yes all four sleeves are brazed or welded to a plate. That's what make the engine hard to rebuild, those have become very difficult to find.

The 145 and 165 engines just use a larger diameter cylinder on the deck plate and the 115 block can be bored out for the larger cylinders, told Deere no longer makes the smaller deck plates and you have to bodify the blocks for the larger ones when overhauling that engine. The person that used to be the John Deelers mechanick had a 1010 that he had put in a 145 combine engine, think the 165 was not yet avaible and he had that tractor putting out 60 PTO HP with all standard over the shelf John Deere parts. You can't tell one engine from anouther by looking at it.

Thanks for all the input. I found a running engine from a 2010, but not sure what number it is. I have to ship it clear up to northern Canada so I would like to be pretty sure before it gets on the truck! How would a guy verify that the bell housing bolts etc. match?

I just found out that the 2010 has a 145 engine... right? In that case, if this used engine is running it should bolt right in, eh! Any thoughts would be great! Thanks Nate
