A friend of mine sent me this pic. I can't swear it's authentic, but it came from a local business with a lot of land & I can't find any evidence of forgery.

Plus, I've personally seen a freshly killed diamondback near here (northeast of Amarillo TX, about 80 miles) that was about 2/3's the size of this one...

Unless it poses an imminent threat to someone, exactly what is the point in killing it or any other snake?

In New Jersey the eastern rattler is protected.Seems most snakes try to get away from man as soon as they can.

While I don"t condone killing things for no reason, disposing of a snake that size is a safety issue. The amount of venom a snake that size would have would kill anything it bit.

In my opinion, its simply a safety issue just like filling in an old well.

I have an uncle outside Oklaunion TX that has a skin from a diamondback that makes that one look like a baby.

No idea where it came from but it stretched across most of a 12 foot wall and more than a foot across.
