John Deere #9 sickle bar mower

I am having trouble with the mounting of a John Deere #9 mower to a Ford 8N tractor. Made some clamps to clamp the brackets on the mower to the 8N lift arms but cannot raise or lower the mower without using the top link to accomplish. When I screw the link in the mower comes up but the blade stays low. When I screw the link out the gear box lowers ok but there is no raising or lowering with the hyd. 3 point. Still have problems when I try to put the blade up to move to another field. Just won't clear the ground high enough where the blade inner shoe is. It drags. Any ideas> Trying to mow in Montana.

Check your adjusting bolt just to the left of the shoe when looking from the back. The bolt hits the short chain to raise the bar.

Center link has to be screwwd out pretty far for the cutterbasr to raise any amount at all.

Be sure the 'passenger side' lift arm on the tractor is at max height. On my 'orange' tractor a 1-2" difference in adjustment/lift height on the tractor's right side lift arm translates into a 8-12" difference in #9 mower lift height at the inner shoe.

Keep experimenting; you'll get her adjusted.
