JD M restoration

I am restoring a 1949 JD M. It has been converted to a 12 volt system. Does this decrease the value or should I change back to a 6 volt system to make it more like original?

It's your tractor! Are you going to use it or just sell it? I personally like the 12 volt system, it cranks and starts faster.

I use to convert my tractors to 12 volt, they start so much quicker. A couple of years ago I changed one back to 6 volt... the right way with big cables and good ground. Now all my tractors are back to 6 volt. Like Butch(PA) said - its your tractor.

As previously stated, it's your tractor; do whatever you like.

We have "Sparky" a 51M with 12v and "Sam" a 51MT with a 6v.

As long as they crank up, we don't discriminate.
