Farmall F-20

I've started to restore a Farmall F-20 and I've seen pictures of other F-20's with the exhaust manifold that has the outlet on the side and lower down. Mine points straight up with the exhaust pipe going through the hood. Is there a reason for this difference? Gasoline vs distillate fuel? and which is which?

I don"t think any F20s had the manifold with the exhaust on the side, the Regular had the side exhaust. All the F20s had the exhaust pipe through the hood.

The Farmall Regular had the small exhaust muffler ("potato muffler") with the the exhaust pointing down. The F-20 exhaust went up through the hood. F-20's originally had a cast iron exhaust elbow on the end of the manifold pipe, but a muffler is much nicer. ;)
