hammer mill screen size

What kind of a mill do you use? different mills can use different size screens for the same size feed.
Obviously you want a coarser screen when grinding ear corn for cattle then you would for shelled corn for hogs as a example.

When I ground with a Ghel 65mx, I used a 5/8 screen. It took more power than a 3/4 or 1" but there were fewer leftover cob pices left in the trough

I use a 3/4 inch if I don't want the corn too fine, but it grinds it up pretty good. I use a 3/8 for ear corn or the shucks and cobs plug everything up. I know it sounds backwards, but mine is a Prater Blue Streak with a 60HP electric motor. It will grind 400 bushels an hour through the 3/4 inch screen.
