WE found our problem with the noise in the Ta sections. There are 2 teeth missing out of the drive gear for the mvc pump. What is the best way to replace this gear. We were wondering if we pulled the rear end from the Ta section if we could remove that gear or do we need to tear the ta out. Any if would be great

No you do not have to pull the T/A but you will have to do a double split and pull the bottom shaft as that shaft come out the ft thru the bell housing end

Not sure what this looks like, but my uncles and father tore apart an 806 that was in a fire back in the 70's.

There was still grease in the rear end. They took it all apart, coated it with a homemade "cosmaline", basically melted grease. Those parts are still hanging on nails in the shed where I park my grain truck.

They now have a light coat of rust, but look useable.

I am sure you can find the gear, but this makes an interesting story.

My dad and uncles thought they would need these someday as we all ran 806's or 706's. I have my dad's 706, but all the old operators have passed on.

I screwed up as i am really tired this evening it is not a double split you split at the range transmission and the speed transmission and slide the rear section away and you remove the the cover on the bottom and the PTO drive gear will fall out . Now if the PTO input has messed up gears on it then it becomes a double split and if i was doing it i sure as heck would be doing the double split and replacing both . Ya sure do not want to do this twice . The bottom shaft does not have to come out .

The bottom PTO gear can be removed without splitting the tractor. The trick is to remove the PTO and rear hydraulic pump. You have to remove the big snap ring that hold the range transmission lower shaft rear bearing housing in place and move it to the rear. You can then move the PTO shaft back enough to get the front gear out. It is not much fun to get the snap ring back in place but I have seen it done that way.
