OT chevy car advise

I just replace the front brakes and rotors on a 05 impala due to being worn out and it felt like a rotor was warped. I have all new parts on now and the new brake still "thump" as bad as the old ones. Any ideas what would be causing this?? I dont hear the antilock activacting and the harder you aply bakes the harder it thumps. I have looked at the rear brakes and they seem fine and i would find it hard to believe that they would transfer that hard of thumping forward.

Thanks for any thoughts.

If it has parking brake that works off the rears try applying that while moving. You should be able to feel the pulse . Just a guess.

Bad tire(s). My '96 chevy pickup does that, checked the 'run out' on the rotors-their is none. Suspect it is a slipped belt in a tire, just don't have the funds to futher investigate right now. Greg

A tire with a slipped belt is a blowout waiting to happen.
It appears the multi-vehicle crash that kills and cripples a couple of families has less value than a replacement tire.

My hunch is that a lot of brake rotors, on recent models, are distorted because someone over tightened them. At the tire shops I visit, the techs are real careful with their torque wrenches.

I have a 2005 Chey Monte Carlo. I thought I had warp rotors on front too. It needed brakes as one of the pads separated from the steel backing. So, for $30 for each rotor and $25 for a set of "better that orginal equipment" pads I replaced everything on front. Just like you I still have the pulse when I brake hard. The rear brakes are disk also so I think they need to be replaced as well. I haven't taken the time to study the brake system that well on this car, but I do know some cars have a master cylinder in that one piston feeds the front and one piston feeds the back. Some cars feed the wheels diagonally (front right and rear left / front left and rear right). I just thought about that and how if the rear left was warped how that might feed back through the lines to the front right. I don't know that to be a fact. Anyway, like you my car still has that pulsing even after new front pads and rotors. Any help would be good. Thank you.

im sure this isnt your problem but you are supposed to have your rotors turned before you put them on yes you turn a brand new one they can warp sitting on a shelf if they arent totally flat or get banged around during shipment my wifes durango did what you explain it was the rear end sensor couldnt hear a thing but the antilock was kicking in and out

I also have a Chev "05 Impala with ,last I looked around 65K miles. The brake pads allway around are at least about 50%. Some times when light braking I can feel a minor shimmy. Most of the time I brake hard and don"t feel it.A master mechanic told me that it is a Chevy thing. My wife drives the car mostly and the same thing went on with the two prior Oldsmobiles we had,SO? Any way I am happy with the milage we are getting on the brakes on the car.Car will probably get traded or sold this fall so I"m not getting excited about it. When we travel we use the Truck and the 5th Wheel Trailer.Truck is more comfortable any way.

I have a Cadillac that sets out all the time. I drive it only a few hundred miles a year if at all. The brakes started thumping and grabbing so I took it in and had the rotors turned and new pads put on. Two years later it started again and I took it back in and they put on new rotors as well as new pads. That was two years ago and the last time I drove it the thumping has started again. Tires are not the problem for sure but I would like to solve the problem in a way other than to get the 4500 buck clunker government deal.
It is a 1996 that had over 100,000 miles before it took its place outside beside my older trucks.

its caused by the slide pins being worn in the the caliper bracket replace co0mplete caliper w/the bracket avail at napa
