I have 2 bulls seperated from the herd for controlled breedingand all they want to do is paw and dig holes. Is their any solution to this other than getting nmew ones? Thanks Amo

New HOLES, or new BULLS?

Sounds like they think they are buffalo and need to wallow!

Really good fence, plenty of water, and an electric fence wire across the top, with plenty of juice to it.

Then may the best bull win!

They'll get tired.

Never seen one keel over yet

good luck, Gene

Live with it. My Murray Greys {Australian} did the same thing when they were separated from the cows. Their way of dissent I suppose.
Changing them does not guarantee anything.

Gene is right. They will have a fit and be a little grumpy for a while but they will get over it. There is an old truck axle that still has the tires on it in my bull pen, last one we had before this one liked to "scratch" his belly on the tires. If they have plenty of food, shade, and water they will find a way to cope.

new holes? Nahh, They can gig in the old ones fine. Later after you turn the bulls out you can fill the holes and have them ready to use over again next year. It's "recycling"

Welcome to the world of cattle. That's what bulls do. You might spray them for flies. Bulls like to paw the dirt and throw it up on their backs to get rid of the flies.

Over the years, we have owned Black Angus, Hereford, Shorthorn, Brahma, Santa Gertrudis, Charlois, Red Limousin, and now a Black Limousin. Black Angus has always been the worst about fighting, etc. This Black Limousin minds his own business and takes care of business. We bought him about 2 years ago, and I have a picture of him then, nothing recent, but he sure is built good. The man we bought him from said he was out of the best bull he had ever owned, and he had several young bulls to choose from. We also bought a young Hereford this spring. We have mostly black cows, and black calves and black baldies are bringing the best here.
