Here's my first shot at posting a video. I used my digital camera that doesn't pick up sound, but maybe someday I'll get a newer camera...

Nice & shiney bottoms too...

Late planted corn. With any luck we'll get it in corn today or tomorrow.

Nope- The plow pretty much takes care of it all. If we would use a chisel plow on it, then we'd have to spray it first because that doesn't get all of it.

I've never seen an attachment like the white one opposite the mold board, seems it breaks up the furrows ? In the soils here it would catch rocks if low enough, tree roots on occasion etc., would have to be built a little heavier where the tines/shanks are, but looks like it kind of levels too, some of the soils that get plowed annually with a moldboard plow around here, don't appear to need a pass with the disc, except for leveling and I think that is why my farmer friend does it anyway, but I have watched that 5 bottom in action, makes you wonder if you could get away with planting afterward.

used to see those midwest harrows alot around here.
didn't seem to have that much problem with rocks and roots
still prefer a harrowgator after the plow

Is that 4 16's? Seems like she's snorting pretty hard for 100 horse. Heavy ground?
Looks nice tho.

as I understand it they have heavy clay ground up there.
that same tractor here in Central Ohio would be pulling 5-16 or 4-18
in north west Ohio that same 1855 would be pulling 6-16 or 5-18's
my 1650 pulled 4-16's over 10 years as the primary tractor here and Don has stated his 1600 pulled 3-16's up there as the primary tractor

Nice video, great job plowing. Just doesn't seem right without sound, though- love to hear those 6 banger Olivers at full cry!

Very heavy ground. This particular feild is heavier than most of ours. I was pulling in 3rd under/direct. And yep- 4-16's. The 18 smokes a bit under no load too, so the previous owner probably tweaked the pump a little bit when they rebuilt it.

The 1600 can pull 3-16's in 3rd gear as well which kinda surprises me. Haven't had it in this black stuff myself yet though.

I figured it must have been heavy ground to make that tractor work with a 16" plow because it's clearly set correctly.
I plowed about 55 acres this past week with the 7710 running 4 bottoms at 18-20" mostly. Some of that was fairly heavy clay, but probably not as heavy as yours. She took that at 5-5.75 mph in 5th under and direct mostly. That old girl is turned up to about 105 PTO... but still not blowing as much smoke as your ollie.

I wonder did they do the injectors in the 18 when the rest was rebuilt? It shouldn't smoke at idle even if it was turned up... but I'm sure it would damn well smoke at load. I know this Ford does. It smokes bad off idle until the turbo gets spinning. Looks like somebody just threw another shovel full of coal on the fire...

I replaced one of the injectors a few years back when I was chasing around a no power issue. I had the manifold off and the #2 cylinder had a little slobber on it. Can't say if the rest were touched or not though.

I guess it's not a lot of smoke, but it's definately there. I do like seeing the trail of smoke behind me when I'm really working the old girl though.

It does a great job in the looser soils, and rides over rocks as it pivots on the top. In the really tough sticky soils that are more of a slab when turned over, it doesn't do much at all.

The harrow came with the plow- I bought the plow back in '02 I think and it came from an area of the state that's much sandier. I'm sure those feilds didn't need much prep after the plow.
