This one may get you Dave from MN

He can have my share. I got home about 3:00am from planting and when I saw the radar picture I couldnt believe it, yet another rain storm we werent suppose to get was coming accross Iowa.
Yesterday was by far the worst conditions I have ever planted in and EVERYONE else was out running too. A good day today and we could get the last 160 of beans in and we still have 80 of corn to plant and I was going to dive into it late today and just do what I could.
This is very discouraging. We were leaning over the pickup at 11pm last night after we filled the planter and I told cliff we have to get done. Everytime we go to the field now I say it is the worst thing I have ever done as the field conditions get increasingly worse each time.
I am headed to do chores and I sent him to get the planter out of the field and move it home but I ignored the imminent rain and said to send the cultivator to the next field and get it rolling in the hopes we could miss this ONE rain.
What I wouldnt do for a couple of nice days.

Bill we planted the same way last year.

If you get a cool wet summer like we did it will be fine.

If it turns off hot and extended dry periods, it may be trouble.

But either way it ain't gonna grow in the bag.

Get it planted.

Good luck

Gary

I been watching radar since 5am, been praying all week on this forecast. Right now it is all south of me. Windy and cold here, even had to throw the windows back in the chicken barn. It's gonna have to really bank north or develop into a bigger system to hit me. I am in southern Benton county. Praying and hoping. Supposed to have an outdoor trap shooting party for my brother in laws stag party today here so I figured for sure it was gonna rain. I want the rain, we can always just sit in and play cards, drink beer, and watch the rain as we try and talk some sense into him. LOL. Actually his fiance just found out she is pregnant so at least I get look forward to being an uncle for the first time. Their pastor is gonna give them some dirty looks when he baptises the baby 8 months after he marries them. Gary, Maybe you and you neighbors could turn all your fans north, might help get it up here!

Managed to get the usual 2/10's we have been getting lately. We are better here than Dave is moisture wise but not by much.
