on the chipmunks in parts of my yard. Wife went and planted a ton of new bulbs, next day most where gone and the chipmunks full. I had been trying fox urine, but after this incident I need a new approach.

So what does work?

The following are out.

Fox urine (obviously)
Cats (hate them)
Any "humane" approach (trapping and moving a mile away, I want them dead).

Not sure what you mean by Humane approach and want them dead but black drainage tubing from ATV exhaust down hole and rev engine.

Stick your propane tank hose into one of the holes, fill it in, and run some propane in for a while. It is heavier than air so it will sink. If that doesn't chase them out or smother them, then stand back and throw a match. Just don't overdo it and don't do it around your gas line cause I don't want to hear about it later on the news. You could do it with your weed burner head for your propane tank also to flow propane in and then step back to light the burner and set off the hole. Once they are gone, you can blow the propane out with an air compressor also.

Get a book titled "Favorite Chipmunk Stew Recipes" or somesuch (you can take any book and put a fake cover on it, works just as well) and leave it out where they can see it. Sit in a lawn chair "reading recipes" occasionally. Make sure they see you "reading" it. They'll get the hint and move on.

Chipmonks fall more in line with Budwiser , Michelob rates up there more with groundhogs !!

Better to use a 12 ga. especially if the case of beer is almost gone when the varmints come sneaking in. They are very fast so the scatter gun would tip the scales in your favor.

Live trap--method & location of emptying trap is up to you. All of mine are voting in another county now, after a short swim.

POISON PEANUTS WILL GET EM,SAW SOME AT TRACTOR SUPPLY,, HAVAHEART HAS A CHIPMUNK SIZE BOX TRAP IF YOU DONT WANT THEM DEAD SAW SOME AT TRACTOR SUPPLY TOO..BUT YOU CAN GET ONE ONLINE NOWADAYS......

No one mentioned chewing gum. Probably chicklet size for something as small as a chipmunk. Juicy fruit. They love it. It gums them up. Plus use everything else listed below.

(quoted from post at 04:48:59 06/05/09) Rat trap and a slice of apple.

I always have to screw my rat traps to larger boards and solder some spikes to the spring bar... In order to keep em from squirming out... they are tough little suckers...

Must be a boom this year.. i am over run too...

Small live trap.

Peanut butter bait.

Don't be merciful.

If you see one, there's probably twenty.

I caught 16 in our yard.

After they destroyed all the hosta's.
