I have a melroe 444 bobcat and it is time to swap in another engine.. Does anyone know what the procedure is for removing the variable speed drive pulley from this engine? I have another parts Bobcat and it looks as if someone tried on that one and broke it, don't want to break this one!

BTW I have the factory manual and parts book for the machine but evidently they told you how to do this in a different manual which I do not have. I have all teh instructions for engine rebuilding but not a word on pulling the engine out.

Thanks for any help!

If the sheave pully is the same as a 610, it's easy.remove the Hyd line. squeeze the pully together, take off the outer snap ring and then washer/collar comes off and so does the outer sheave. reach in and gently tap the inside plundger in slightly, remove the inside snap ring. put the outer snap ring back on and clamp a vise-grip on to it and pull. It will pull hard but it will come out, Do NOT pull on the hose fitting. with the plundger out remove the inside bolt. and washer. repalce the bolt loosly. Tap in tightly between the engine and pully, punckes, wedges or pry bars. Hit the bolt herd a good sharp whack, shaft is tapered. any novement, it comes free good luck
