O.T Close call today

I had a close call today in a way I would never have expected. I was picking rocks with my Kawasaki diesel mule. I had it in low range. I was getting on and off a lot so I would just leave it in gear(it's like a automatic transmition, take your foot off of the throtle it stops moving)I was in front of it picking up a rock wheh it suddenly took off. I JUST got out of the way. It seems my dog wanted to ride and hoped on and set her fat butt on the throtle. She drove it a while before she got up to look back to see why I wasn't coming along. Funniest part is, when this was happening, all I could think about is "Great, How am I gouing to explain this to 911". Learned my lesson. I dont let the dog drive any more.

Sounds like something I would have done, except I don't have a dog.

I asked my wife once if I ever told her about the time I got run over by my own pickup. She said, "No, and I don't want to hear about it".

I don"t leave vehicles running or keys in them when pets or kids are in/on them.

We had an electric fence across the driveway, near where the driveway ran along the edge of a pond. I opened the gate, drove through, and got out to close it, neglecting to put the car in Park. It headed toward the pond, I managed to (foolishly) jump into it and stop it just in time. I knew it was a stupid thing to do, but just had visions of how I would tell the boss that I would be a little late this morning, because I had just run my nearly new company car into the drink.

I let my lawn tractor with a wagon drive by ITSELF in low range while i'm picking up rocks, sticks, leaves, whatever.

Sure beats getting on and off of the stupid thing about 500 times a minute.

Some people on here will cry "you're stupid!" "You're gonna get hurt" or even "you're a danger to society." I don't have kids, don't have pets, and when it's just me and the lawnmower driving by itself, it's completely safe... because I SAID it is.

man am i glad that i am not the only one something like that has happened.
my saint bernard drove the golf cart quite a ways across the barn yard before deciding to get off. an funniest part about it, since nothing was hurt was the look on the dogs face.
he looks at ya an you know what he is thinking. its either "what the heck do i do now or what are you doin back there"
those of you with critters know that look. its usually the same one they give ya when you do something stupid an they are right there.

last year I read about a lady using a golf cart to feed hay in her barn- had a square bale leaning up against passenger side seat while she threw a flake in the stall. Bale fell onto the gas pedal, cart ran her over and killed her.
Crazy stuff happens!

This guy I know was all bruised up and aching, he told me his truck had started rolling away from him and he ran to jump into it. I said where would the truck have went if you just left it go, he said into the pasture.
