What is washing soda that is used in parts cleaning by electrolysis?

Sodium carbonate. NOT bicarbonate.

But you can usually find the Arm and Hammer brand of washing soda in the laundry detergent aisle, right near the 20-Mule-Team Borax.

You can find it in many of the larger supermarkets,in large boxes ,looking like baking soda boxes

It's also used to raise PH in pools & spas, and is available for that purpose at Wallyworld, Homer Depot, & similar places.
