mower for a tractor

i have big garden and would like to know the best mower to get to pull behind my dexta tractor,possaible a small type,as lon as it gives a close cut to lawnan mebe one that collects the grass as well, catriona

A Dexta is about 30-32 h.p., so up to a 6' finish mower will work nicely behind it. Take your pick for brand... go with what's available locally, so you can get parts and service if needed. I don't know of any 3-point finish mowers that have grass catchers, though.

I suggest a nice rear mount 60" 3 point hitch finish mower like a Woods with guage wheels they are considered finish mowers because they usually have multiple blades versus the single blade brush mower which allows it to be close coupled to make it more nimble and keeps the weight in close so the front end of the tractor isn't so light. You can expect to pay anywhere from 850 for the NorTrac to 2000 American dollars for the Woods in fact I had a dealer trying to sell me a slightly used Woods 60" for 1500 but I think it is gone now.I can't help much on the grass vac Northern Tool is advertising a gas powered tow behind 51cubic feet vac system for $1229. Hope this helps.

I'm happy with my Wood's RM-59 60" finish mower. I run this with my John Deere M tractor and it handles it quite nicely. I made a modification to it today. I didn't like the skids that carry the front and I didn't like driving with my hand on the touch-o-matic handle constantly especially if the ground is wet and soft. So I robbed the dolly casters off another Wood's I have for parts and mounted them on the front of my good one.
Mows better than my 112 or 316 now.

Maschio and Caroni are the two brands we sell at our dealership. Both do an amazing job and have 4 corner guage wheels and I sold a 7 footer last week that also had a center front caster wheel to keep the mower at a nice minimum cut. Smooth as glass to operate and rear full discharge for operator safety. Migraine
