OT 2002 DUramax.

I swaped my dodge diesel for an 01 duramax, best thing i've done, dodge always had something wrong with it.

If it is as good as our 07 that we have at work you'll be happy with it. We pull a 38' trailer with it over the interstates and the Duramax is a monster.

On my third cummuns. The first(92) one only ever needed valves (rocker arms) ajusted every 25,000 miles. the 02 had a fuel pump go out under warranty. Happy with all three.

my dmax is an 01 and runs like a top. I pull a gooseneck with tractors and have had no problems what so ever. my father in law has on 07, that thing is power!

About the only issues with 01, 02 and 03 Duramax's are the injectors and fuel filter holder air leaks. Some develop leaks between the seals that seal the injectors in the head. When this happens fuel leaks into the crankcase. Slow starting is a sign of this. GM has extended the warranty to 7 years or 250000 miles on all of these trucks. The fuel filter holder's seals deteriorate from the new ULSD fuel and allow air to be sucked in causing starting problems. The Allison transmission is also very reliable if serviced correctly requiring spin on filter changes every 10000 miles and fluid changes every 50000 miles.

I cant speak for those years, as I own an 08, but if the older models are anything like the newer ones, Im not going to try and talk you out of it!

I own a early 04 d max with the LB7 engine which is the same as the 02. I have 275,000 on the truck and it has not had ANYTHING done to the engine, the Allison crapped out at 200,000 finally. The only problem with the early engines like these are the injectors. They are bad about cracking the injector body's and filling the crankcase with diesel fuel. GM now covers these to 200,000 miles. All other truck with even near the mileage I have has had one set or possibly two. Im not sure why I have never had a problem. Ive had one dodge a 95 model and never was pleased with it, the truck fell apart long before the engine did. I had two powerstroke diesel's before the chevy and im hooked on the d-max now! I just recently bought a 08 and its just as sweet.
