JD 730 diesel solenoid problem

I switched my 730 (electric start) to two 12 volt batteries in place of the four sixes, and put in a new wiring harness. The tractor has been burning up the terminal on the solenoid that activates the starter about every 50 hours. Is this a wiring problem? A solenoid problem? These solenoids are not cheap. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like excess heat from a high-resistance connection, possible the wire not making good contact INSIDE the battery cable terminal itself.

Try a new HEAVY-DUTY battery cable.

As a follow-up; I should have been more clear that I'm talking about the small wire that comes from the starter button on the dash to the solenoid. The flat blade terminal on the solenoid is affected.
Thanks

1.) Are you SURE you are using the correct (24 Volt isolated ground) solenoids?

2.) A "flat blade terminal" (at least what I consider a plat blade terminal) would NOT be found on a 730 solenoid. A photo would sure help.

Are you sure you hooked up the batteries right? Something had to change if it only happens now about changing the batteries. I've had 2 730's with dual 12 volt batteries and they have worked fine.

They are the the solenoid(s) the JD dealer sold me. The tractor is at my sister and brother-in-law's farm, 3 hours from here. I'm the weekend mechanic. I can take a picture next weekend.
