i got a email today showing somebody had a old grain silo trucked in to a homestead then turned the inside into a pretty nice looking house, it looks good other than it had a rounded look kind of like a airstream trailer but once you got used to that it might be fine if anybody wants to see the email, send me a message at [email protected], and i'll send it to you, im not sure how to put a complete page on here and that might not be appreciated too much by the site owner

Years ago a restaurant was started in Litchfield, MN, called "The Farmer"s Daughter". Barn theme with an old concrete stave silo for an entrance. Recently went out of business, so the new owner took off the silo roof, and the short staves on top, creating a turret on a castle look. Military them is appropriate, since the new owner is the VFW.

In findley ohio the old quaker oats storage silo's were turned into upscale apartments.

I once did an insurance inspection on a quonset that had been turned into a house.

From the road, it looked like a galvanized quonset with a couple of walk in doors. Inside were quality and comfortable two bedroom living quarters.

The Quaker Oats silos in Akron were turned into a hotel and the mill area a shopping center. I think it's all closed now.

I saw on Discovery Channel one time a while back where people in Mo. had taken old missile silos and turned them into homes. Pretty elaborate ones at that.

Back home in Kansas where I grew up a fellow made a dome out of re-bar and wire mesh and then sprayed it with a styrofoam substance to make a three bedroom home. Was pretty neat looking, back in the 70s it looked like something from outer space.

I read an article about a silo on Kansas that was turned into a house. It might be a little more tornado proof than a stick house.I read another article about a MISSILE silo turned into a home. Jim

There was a thread about that over on New AG Talk, a few weeks ago. There is an apartment building in Ames Iowa with bin metal for round walls. There is a picture of that on that New Ag Talk thread.
