hello need help my tractor keeps having the clutch plate stick or rust to the flywheeel. that leaves me not being able to use the clutch does anyone know a trick to jolt the plate into releasing or comeing free

some times clutch can be broke loose by getting it in a clear area and starting in a fairly high gear then opening throttle and stomping on brakes while holding clutch down. be prepared to shut engine down if it doesen't come loose. remember to have plenty of room and think a head for safe actions if any thing goes wrong. also you might want to check clutch housing area for mouse nests or smell of mouse pee as they have been known to cause this problem

Tie the pedal down, put the transmission in neutral ( or park, if equipped); set the parking brake, start it up, walk off and leave it running at fast idle 'til it comes un-stuck. If it's an on-going problem, you might consider blocking/tying the pedal down each time it's gonna set for a while.

No such thing as a 56 N.

When my '48 8N did that, I started it in fourth gear and stood on the clutch and the brakes until the plate got loose. Then I nosed the front up against a telephone pole, and with it in fourth again, I slipped the clutch until it worked smooth.

thats a common problem on ford as well as some other makes if there not worked too much, hook a impliment like a plow or brush hog. something that will make the tractor snort a little and work it for a few hours the clutch will come loose after it does and your done for the day block the pedel down with a cement block to prevent it from happening again

It's not always the plate that gets stuck to the flywheel. It can have rusty splines in the hub of the clutch disc or the shaft, causing it not to slide away from the flywheel.

If you replace the clutch be sure to clean the splines up on the shaft with a wire brush and assemble it dry.

You may also have a broken finger on the pressure plate not causing part of it to release all the way.

I would split the tractor and replace the clutch and throwout bearing and pilot bearing if it has one. Be sure to make sure the engine rear main isn't leaking either.

Let us know what you find.
