Its settled. I saw green come out and was happy just to get it. Im still out twenty more bucks, most of a tank of gas, and all the time and gas it takes to get from the farm to this little shop and back twice. Wonderful......

To be honest he could probabally use it more then i could. He shows up in a nissan with plastic over the windows. Not really justification, i just feel alot better about it. I'll chalk it up as an educational expense i guess. Video tells the rest.....

Thanks for the help everyone!! How the heck do i get this crap out of my tank now??

James says that you will be a very good investigative reporter one day.

We watched the video and noticed some good driving habits.

There are those on this forum who know how to get the red kote out of the tank. I'm sure you'll get some advice on that.

Glad to know it turned out as well as it did. While it wasn't pleasant, you did learn a lot from this.

It was wise to at least attempt to record the conversation if things had gone south.

Good goin Lance !!

Maybe another dissatisfied customer took out his windows~~~LOL~~ and thought you may do worse~~LOL

Lanse,

I'm not sure what you have in your tank but if it's rust try to find someone who does metal cleanning and see if they can dip it into some phosphoric acid. This will be the best thing for removing rust. A man does it for me and he's 45 miles away and it takes two weeks before I can get the tank back. He charges me $35 for a tank off of a farmall H which I don't think that's too bad. It comes out bare metal inside and out. I've put tank sealer in some of them and some I have not sealed. Haven't had any problems doing it either way.

I used to take my gas tanks to a radiator shop and they would hot tank them but it wouldn't even take the decals off let alone the rust out from the inside. One shop cut a hole in one of my tanks so he could insert the pressure washer to break the rust up and wash it out. That was the last time I took a tank to him. All of my tanks now get dipped in the acid.

Hope this helps you!!

"Solvents such as methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), acetone, methylene chloride and propylene oxide (POP) will completely dissolve the polymer. Other industrial solvents may affect the coating but, not completely dissolve"

Acetone should clean it out... (fingernail polish remover)

Lanse. Over the years I hae found its better,if you have a rusty gas tank inside, to just go to a tractor salvage yard, and pay 50 or so bucks and get a different tank. You can usua;lly find one clean inside. Keep at it you'll get the hang of it soon. don't give up Bernie Steffen
