All's Well That Ends Well

This has happened to me many times before when starting spring work.

Yesterday, I developed a leak at the front crank seal on my ol' IH 1066 tractor. Huffed and puffed and threatened to get out the wrenches.

In a hurry this morning, dumped in 2 quarts of oil and away I went. Disced all day and the silly leak has healed itself.

Ya just gotta love those old IH tractors! :>)

Ya reckon that the old seal had just dried out a little from being parked and using it good helped it to "swell" up? Allan, ya gotta USE them tractors more;-)

We once had a customer come in with a truck differential completely destroyed because of lack of oil. He said it use to leak but but after a while it quit leaking so he though it had cured itself.

Yeah,

Think maybe it really wasn't ready to come out of hibernation quite yet.

I'm just working the snot out of 'er and it didn't miss a beat all day long. :>)

I gots to 'member to take my camera with me tomorrow.

I'm following a JD combine that threshed this field last summer. You talk about sod! :>)

My B-I-L and I usta help each other cut beans; I had an "F" and he had a "715". This was in the days when cottontails were plentiful; well, you know how the noise and the motion of the combines will sometimes cause 'em to 'freeze'. He ran one through the machine; knocked off a lot of its fur, but it managed to run off.......

I think that's when a guy should make us a BS story and not admit to something like that...

Yeah, my wife was driving it and it blew up... So here I am...

Sounds like the first day of spring work with the 2470 Case I had- sitting all winter, the axle seals would dry up and leak the first day. Then get wet and swell up tight.
