Just thought I would share what we have been using the last couple years for hand cleaner. My father-in-law raises dogs and mixes bakery grease with their food, he had some shingle tar on his hands one day and was making dog food and the grease took the tar right off You can get it free from most bakerys in big buckets, it takes off the worst grime and the best part is your hands smell like donuts! Once i get them as clean as I can with the grease, I use dawn foaming dish soap and they are white as can be

That grease would be vegetable oil wouldn't it?

Or what else dothey use in the deep fat fryers?

I've used shortning to remove lots of things off the hands. If you do wood working and get stain on your hands, take pure lemon juice and rub the stain off.

Lots of fir trees in our area, and fir pitch is tough to get off- hydrocarbon based stuff won't cut it. Alcohol will, but the straight stuff is rough on the hands. Many years ago, on a camping trip, I bought a pint of corn whisky (we were trying to get back to our roots). It was awful. So I marked the bottle "Hand Cleaner", and used it for removing pitch. Worked a lot better for that than for drinkin'.
