Food for thought: are we letting scammers off too easy???
I get E-mails that Look like they are from the FBI, even with the offical seal, saying that they have investigated an individule (a scammer) and I am entitled to $800,000 compensation for being one of his victoms, All I ahve to do is send a $200 processing fee to someone with a forrien phone number, and U.S. bank will send me my check.
The other day I got a letter in the mail That I had won a Canadian lottery. my share was $1,500,000. enclosed was a check for almost $5000 as a down payment. I was instructed to cach the check and wire them $3995 to cover the "import tax" when I did this the funds would be realeased to me. Letter and check went into the garbage.
We all know about the fake for sale adds on here from time to time.
Now someone has tryed a new face to face type of scam (See new scam, posted by hot rodder)
The question: Is ignoreing these guys enough, or should we be doing more??
Should I be forwarding the scam e-mails to the real FBI??
Should I have forewarded the letter to the Inspector general of the post office?? Mail fraud is still a severe crime, isn't it??
Should Hot rodder have tryed to get this guys Id and tag number and reported him??
Should we all get hotmail or gmail addresses and choke the fake for sale add scammers inbox with more email than he ever will be able to answer??
Would any or all of this do any good??. Would it make the scammers reconsider their line of work (or at least their choice of victoms )??
