1955 740 Ford

I just bought a 1955 740 Ford tractor. The numbers on the transmission are NCB18 with a diamond shape at the begining of the series of letters and numbers and at the end of the series of letters and number. The tractor is in great shape and runs really good. Bought it from a nice fellow in Ohio. Can anyone tell me something about this serial number?

Hi Leroy, The s/n is located on left-hand side of
the trans. case at the point of joining with the
starter. Should be a number with 5 or 6 digits
depending on the year. If I remember right the
model will also be there-stamped into the case.

Look here and tell us what #'s you find.
The first row should be 740 or 740-5 if it came from the factor with a wide front end.
The next row will be the serial # and will tell us what year it is.
All will be #'s (no letters)

Go over to the Ford board of this site with your specific questions. Lots of guys that can help you.

There is a 740 on the transmission and under the 740 is NCB18 with a diamond shape in front of the letters and following the 18. The fellow I bought it from thought that this was probably the 18th tractor made for this series. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
