How much $ for a new tractor tire?

Thinking about going to an auction this weekend. One item I'm interested in is a pair of 16.9X28 6ply tractor tires. Haven't seen them, of course.

Does anyone have an idea of what that size tire is going for new?

Thanks for the help.

Hard telling what used tractor tires will go for. I bought a good 2/3s tread BF Goodrich Power Grip for $4 at one sale - it was to cheap to let go - especially since it was a popular size (13.6 X 38). Problem is I've been rolling it around in my shop for 5 years now.

Then I've seen similar tires go for $200 - but they were pairs.

Thanks for the offer. I don't really need any tires now and I would not be going to the auction exclusively for that. But I figured if they went for a really good price I might just as well go for them.

One of my D17 uses the 16.9X28. I'm not sure about my other one. I'll keep in mind the tires you have, though.

I think my d-17 has 16s on it also but I have also seen the 14.9s on them but there where a lot of options on them and over the years people did like to go up a tire size or 2 on tractors

I'd like to buy thr 13.6x38 if it's for sale. See if we coud hook up with someone on the haualing board email open

I haven't priced them lately but I'd suspect that a bias of that size would be in the 500 range for a Firestone and probably a bit less for a Galaxy.

I suppose it depends on what you're doing with the tires, but I've never found used tractor tires to be much of anything but heartache. I wouldn't spend more on a used tractor tire that I'd spend in the casino in one night... and I've yet to leave 2 cents in the casino.
Remember, a tractor tire at a consignment auction is not there because it was of use to the previous owner... keep that in mind.

Question that comes to my mind is how tall is the tread on a new tire and how short would it be to be wore out? I see adds that say 40%, 50%, etc. but never say how they figured it. Not sure I'd trust their percentages anyway.

Just wondering. My 2606 loader and hoe is not used for field work so I don't need tread for traction but the sidewalls are cracked real bad and there are a couple lengthways (going around the side of the tire) tears/cuts maybe a few inches long that go to the second layer. With the farm sitting on a state highway, I'm afraid to road it to town or anywhere in fear that a little heat may make it blow and I don't want it sitting on a state highway waiting to be fixed and pay a fortune doing it.

Its probably been that way for years and holds the hoe up just fine all this time. I'd like to road it about 13 miles to do a little dirt work.

What do you guys think? (sorry to hijack this thread but the answer should help everyone)(I think the 2606 has 16.9x28s also if I remember correctly but may be 26s. Thanks.
